Embracing Change

Hi all! It’s been quite a while since I last posted something here in my blog, I guess giving the old “I was busy” line is too passe (but really, I was busy. LOL!) Anyways, I would just like to share with you guys about what I learned when I attended one of our Personal Empowerment Program training entitled “Embracing Change”.

Basically, there are 5 stages on how we usually cope up with major changes which will be shown in this short clip. Personally, I went through all these stages when I learned that I was pregnant with Julie, and I think most of the mommies I know underwent these stages as well. So without further ado, let’s watch this short, funny yet meaningful video about a giraffe stuck in a quicksand.

Let’s take the quick sand as our problem / change…

Stage 1: Denial
When we step into the quicksand, our initial reaction would be… “Nah, that’s not true.” or “Yeah right….”

Stage 2: Anger
When we finally realize that the change is real, we get angry for no apparent reason, blaming everyone we see, “It’s your fault!” “I hate you!” “I hate this life!” etc. etc. etc… Then some would take a box of cigars hoping to ease the tension.

Stage 3: Bargaining
Now, when we’ve eased up, we tend to ask for bargains… “God, I promise to be a good girl, just let me out of this quick sand…”

Stage 4: Depression
Okay, we were not given the chance and the bargaining didn’t seem to work, what do we do? Cry like there’s no tomorrow. Some of us won’t eat, some of us would drink, some of us just won’t talk to anyone and imprison themselves in their own room… (guilty!)

Stage 5: Acceptance
We’ve passed the depressing stage…We’ve recovered, we’ve become stronger and wiser. Off to face another challenge!

So, which stage are you now?

Looking For A House

Remember my dream house? Well, I’m currently canvassing for a rent to own house just for the sake of hoping that my dream would someday come true. I found a few good options but they are far from Manila… And a lot of them are actually just right for my family’s budget, but I am actually hoping to get something that is near my parent’s house because honestly, I’m just not really ready to be physically far from them, and what I like about most were that most of these options were already furnished, and would just need a few touches as for designs. And of course, first thing that I would like a house to have is a decent FLOOR – seriously. I hate our floor right now… It’s literally covered by patched up linoleum. I would love to have it repaired but my dad told me that it will not be worth the time and money since we are just renting the place, which is why I would really want to own a house. And speaking of the dream house, I just decided that I would like to use copper sinks for a rustic yet elegant look… guess I would just like to share that thought to ya’ll.

Would you know anywhere in Manila where I can find an affordable rent to own house? Please let me know!

Not So Major Updates

2 weeks…

Since my last glimpse of my blog…
Since my last official log in to my FaceBook…
Since my online life was touched…

Yeah, it has been 2 weeks since I last did any updates here in my blog, and I must say, I have quite a lot updates for you guys…

WORK:
I’m getting used to the work load… I guess, and it’s easy to file vacation leave in QA department, as opposed to operations. The only requirement is for my group mates to allow me to file VL and that’s it! Easy as a pie right? And since I need to use up all my VL credits (5 to be exact) before September ends, I am “sort of” forced to use them all up – which is why currently I’m F-R-E-E. But honestly though, the negative impact is that I would only have few days left for the week to attain my weekly goal… So if it was not really important, I would rather not file Vacation Leaves, which is the main reason why I filed 3 days VL last week, but didn’t take 2 of them. Good thing that my boss allowed me to just use them whenever I want to maybe next month or so, and as for the remaining 2, well, that’s why I’m currently typing this post.

LOVE:
I haven’t really given you guys any info on how me and my hubby are doing… Actually before, we were into this major fight and I gave him an ultimatum that if the year ends and he still doesn’t have a job, he’d leave my parents’ house and come back when he finds one. Reason? For him to get up his being couch potato and look for a job! Currently, he’s doing good and looks like there is a promising job that may have him start this October (fingers crossed).

Just had a date with hubby yesterday in Sbarro and ate Baked Zitti with Meatball, plus a Deep Dished Supreme pizza! I was so full but I’m definitely happy!!! He got his backpay from Telus so he decided to treat me out on a date (finally – Sbarro!).
sbarro

Another thing… I “think” someone has a crush on me, not sure who, or let’s just say that I’m not sure if there really is someone… I guess I’m being too intuitive again.

LIFE:
Just experienced Mother Nature’s wrath… 2 days ago, I almost never got back home from work. It was raining hard (Typhoon Ondoy – Signal #2) and the area was flooded (waist high – for me I guess, since I’m small and all that), but since my hubby was persistent and wanted me to go home, he fetched me and we had to face the flood head on. I even almost took a head-first dive since I didn’t notice that there was a step in front of me, and I almost tripped straight down onto the flood, good thing hubby was right in front of me to stop the tripping.

When we got home, we were greeted by a house-filled with darkness… with only few candles lighting a spot in our house. It took almost 3 days of “no electricity madness”! So hubby decided to treat me out to Sbarro…

BLOG:
NEW HEADER!!! Yeah, I think finally, I’m open to using a “real life” picture as part of my header. By the way, thanks to Lee-Anne Shone for the digital scrapbooking materials. :cute: What do you guys think?

GYM:
Since it was raining cats and dogs 2 days ago, I decided to go to gym instead, and while at it, we had fun taking pictures as well!

So that’s 4 of us (left to right) Ron, Anna, Me, and Eoji (our trainer). Kewl eh? I have that pole there for my abs! :cheer:

So there! My not so major updates…

Diamons Are A Girl’s Best Friend

I was doing some web surfing a while ago and came across a site that features different styles of diamond heart jewelry which I instantly fell in love with. At first glance, I was only looking at how these diamonds were elegantly crafted, but right after I moved my eyes to the price, I knew they were not meant for me…

Somehow while checking out these well-designed diamonds, I suddenly remembered Marilyn Monroe’s video “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend”. Don’t you agree that she’s pretty? Here’s the video by the way… Enjoy!

Finally! ^_^

Yesterday, my Team Captain told me that our Operations Manager will speak to me… I already had a hunch, and I knew it was about my most awaited “pull out”, and I was right.

He told me that effective Monday shift, I will officially start my probationary period as a Quality Analyst, and will be having Saturday and Sunday shift as my rest days. :cheer:

So I’m thinking of getting ready for the job, I would definitely need a notebook to take down some notes and a weekly calendar for me to jot down my to do list. I can’t wait to start!

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Remembering My Previous Work

I worked as a property consultant before and boy it was difficult, for me at least… I tried my best to look for potential customers to sell condo units which cost millions. But honestly… I find it really hard to persuade someone to shell out millions for a condo unit that is not yet ready for occupancy. After few months of being a property consultant, I was already looking for available jobs in the market. At first, I was considering insurance marketing just like what my other friends were doing, but I know that it’s just not my thing. So I opted for call center instead. I was lucky enough to get myself hired as a chat agent and the company sells computers, which I know that I would definitely love. Sure enough I became happy and content.

And now that I got myself hired as an intern for quality analyst of the company which I still need to wait for me to be pulled out from the operations, I need to make sure that I do my job well, and stay as one and will finally be hired as an official quality analyst.
